Schengen Lounge, Luxembourg Pavilion, Expo 2020

The Luxembourg Pavilion is located in the Opportunity Zone, where the Schengen Lounge is located. A catering concept opened the door to Luxembourg cuisine.

You can choose the restaurant on the ground floor and walk to the side of the Luxembourg Pavilion; or, if you want to be adventurous, you can enter the Pavilion and take a fun playground slide that will take you to the door of the restaurant.

The restaurant is managed by Luxembourg’s Michelin-starred chef Kim Kevin de Dood in cooperation with Jumeirah Group; it was developed by the Luxembourg Hotel and Tourism Institute, which allows 31 students to complete part of their actual work internships in the pavilion with the chef .

The story of the Schengen lounge is inspired by the concept of “open borders” in the Schengen area. Chef Kim Kevin De Dood’s culinary creations are influenced by Luxembourg’s international community and diversity, allowing diners to taste contemporary Luxembourg on a plate.

Highlights:

Depending on the time of day or the preferences of the diners, you can choose your meal from one of two menus-the light bar menu or the main menu. While sipping sparkling grapes from Luxembourg, we peruse the concise menu, which contains different lunch and dinner parts.

Our evening experience started with a platter of delicious snacks shared by the two. It includes crushed celery fritters with orange peel, Thai basil and walnut cream, which completely enhances the flavor of the snack; Feierstengszalot (traditional Luxembourg cold beef salad) that I hardly want to share; gorgeous smoked river trout and crayfish Clay pot; the classic Riesling vinegar sauce; and Gromperekichelcher (crispy potato pancakes), my partner quickly inhaled it, served with an apple compote. If you don’t feel completely hungry, this large platter is perfect in itself.

If you have time for the main course, try the homemade kniddelen, a Luxembourg dumpling with smoked duck breast, crispy skin, tarragon and chervil, served in a light duck gravy. This dish is warm, comfortable and incredibly indulgent, perfect for the winter weather in Dubai. Meat lovers can pair the braised beef ribs with grapefruit sauce and russet potato fudge, and then pair it with a dollop of caramelized onion mash. The dish itself is delicious, but the creamy caramelized onions are beautiful and lush.

At this point, we decided to give us the cafe’s delicacies, including Verwurelter (fried classic Luxembourgian sweets), Quetschentaart (mini plum pie), honey and small desserts such as Fleur de sel crème brûlée and dark chocolate truffles; this is Our dining trip to Luxembourg came to a successful conclusion.
