Subway Art Painted Easter Eggs

Subway Art Painted Easter Eggs

Who loves Easter?

I loved it since I was a kid, not like teens and young adults, I love it like a mom. Funny right?

The kids, Lorraine and I love the traditions, family time and goodies that the holidays bring.

We love Easter eggs too!

I’ll be showing you some fun decorating eggs throughout the week. It started with my glow-in-the-dark Easter egg, today:

Subway Art Painted Easter Eggs

It’s hard not to make subway art eggs because subway art is all the rage right now, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I love how they turned out!

It’s really easy to do! Here’s what you need in case you want to make some too. 🙂

– hard-boiled easter eggs

-Acrylic paint

– Cut vinyl or stickers (to use as templates)

1. First boil the eggs. I found a great tutorial here to make them perfect! !

2. Then I designed my vinyl and was ready to put it on the egg. The words are very small, so be sure to measure the eggs so you can get a good idea of the words you’re writing. Cut, peel and add adhesive to vinyl. Apply to eggs. Make sure it stays in good shape by rubbing it a lot. Because the eggs are round, you may need to take a separate letter to add it to prevent folding, but it’s really easy. 🙂

3. Color the eggs with acrylic paint. I start at the top, let it dry completely, then turn it over to finish. Let it dry completely.

4. Use an x-acto knife to peel off your vinyl lettering.

you are done!

Now, I don’t know how safe these are to eat when they’re painted (they’re probably better as display eggs), but I think if they don’t crack, you’re safe. If you want to be super safe, I wouldn’t eat them at all. We actually made egg salad sandwiches with them last night and they were great.

If we are poisoned, you will be notified. 😉

One reader suggested doing it on wooden eggs. I couldn’t find those in the store last week, only pulp eggs, which I don’t think work very well, but if you can find wood eggs, these beauties can last forever. Just a suggestion. 😀
