Easy Oven Roasted Chickpeas
Chickpeas, also known as chickpeas, are versatile. In their simple raw form, they’re great to add to soups, curries, salads…but they’re great for hummus or baked for a crunchy snack or salad topping.

How to Make Roasted Chickpeas
Drain and rinse. Drain, then rinse canned chickpeas. You can stop rinsing the peas when there are no more bubbles. Pour the rinsed beans onto a towel, dry as much as possible, and spread out on a rimmed baking sheet.
bake. Bake beans at 400°F for 20 minutes. Be sure to shake the pan during cooking. This will ensure they cook more evenly.
Season the beans. Carefully pour beans into a heatproof bowl and drizzle with oil. Stir the beans with a spoon and coat them in the oil. Sprinkle with all the spices and stir again.
Bake again. Return the beans to the pot and roast for another 10-15 minutes, until crisp. Again, shake the pan halfway through.

Crispy Roasted Chickpeas Use the method used in this recipe. Roast the chickpeas for 20 minutes before adding any oil or seasoning. This helps dry out the chickpeas.
If you add oil before they’re completely dry, all the water won’t be able to escape, resulting in crunchy roasted chickpeas. After 20 minutes, add oil and seasoning and roast the chickpeas for another 10-15 minutes, until crisp and crisp.
More Chickpea Seasoning
You can use other seasonings to change the flavor of these roasted chickpeas. Feel free to use any seasoning combination you like. Here are a few other versions:
- Thailand: 1 tsp curry powder + ½ tsp cumin + ½ tsp turmeric + ⅛ chilli
- salt and pepper: ½ tsp salt + ¼ tsp black pepper
- garlic: ½ tsp garlic powder + ⅛ tsp onion powder + ½ tsp salt
