We all know desserts are the best, and we love sharing our favorite tried and true concoctions with you, especially when they come to the sweet side.

I wanted to share with you a new recipe for red velvet cheesecake that combines two of our favorite things – red velvet cake + cheesecake.

The cheesecake layer is probably the best part of the whole cake! My husband would probably agree, even though he says the homemade cream cheese frosting is divine. I have to agree – so delicious. 🙂

How to Make Red Velvet Cheesecake

This cake is really simple. We have a more homemade red velvet cake, but a shortcut for this recipe is to use a box mix.

Prepare. Preheat oven to 350.

Box cake. Follow the directions on the back of the box to make the Red Velvet Cake Mix. shelved.

cheesecake. Mix 8 oz. Place a dollop of cream cheese, sugar and egg whites in a separate bowl until well combined.

bake. Pour half of the red velvet cake mix into a greased 9Ă—13. Drizzle a scoop of cream cheese mixture over red velvet cake mixture. Swirl over the batter. Pour the other half of the cake batter over this cream cheese layer. Bake for 35-40 minutes. After baking, take it out and let it cool.

Frost. For frosting, combine cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and milk until smooth. Frost the cake and enjoy!

Storage + Tips

shop Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. With the cheesecake layer and cream cheese frosting, we don’t recommend leaving it on the counter.

To save time use canned frosting – But when in doubt, we always recommend homemade. The homemade cream cheese frosting we made for this cake takes only a few minutes to put together and is literally the icing on the cake. Really tasty!
