Holiday Spice Jar Gift

Holiday Spice Jar Gift

Hello! I’m Heather; most of the time you can find my blog at French Press where I share family friendly meals and snacks. But today, I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to guest post for Kristyn! We’re getting ready for the holidays as Kristen enjoys family time with her precious new addition. Yes, it’s that time of year already.

That special time of year when money and time never seem to be enough. Gift-giving can be stressful to say the least, but it really doesn’t have to be. Homemade gifts have become one of my family’s favorite traditions. Stella and I made a big batch of cinnamon rolls for our neighbors. We knit scarves or headbands, make lip gloss for all of our cousins, and we love making gift jars for teachers and coaches. We’ve been working on spices for the past few years. Great for wine, cider, and I even like to spice up the aroma in a pot on the stovetop. It makes the house smell good.

And they couldn’t be easier to make.

You will need:

Oranges, ½ per bundle I used oranges

Cinnamon Sticks 2 per pack

Whole Nutmeg 1 per pack

Star Anise 4 per pack

Cardamom Pods 5 per pack

Whole cloves 1 tsp per pack

cheesecloth, cut into 8×8 squares Baker’s twine mason jars

The orange slices need to be dehydrated – for this, I cut them into slices and put them on parchment paper in the oven overnight; the lights on will provide enough heat to dry the slices I put enough in each jar of spices, which can hold three packs, as well as twine and three pieces of cheesecloth. Consider cider or wine, place â…“ spice in center of cheesecloth tied with twine and simmer in 1 bottle of cider. attach instructions to back of gift tag

Thank you so much Kristyn for letting me share it with you today.

Happy gifting everyone.
