How to Make Candied Walnuts
Prepare. Heat oven to 250 degrees before starting. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.
coat. In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon and salt. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together egg whites and vanilla extract until frothy. Add the walnuts to the egg white foam and mix well. Then add the sugar mixture to the walnuts and mix everything until all the walnuts are evenly coated.
Cook. Spread walnuts evenly on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for an hour or until browned. Make sure to stir the walnuts every 20 minutes. This will help the walnuts cook on all sides and brown evenly.

change taste Your walnuts and different spices! You can substitute pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg for the cinnamon. Both will be delicious.
You can also change the type of nut. Almonds, pecans, and cashews can all be used in this recipe.
Store candied walnuts in an airtight container Like a plastic zip lock bag or a Tupperware. If stored properly and tightly closed, they will stay fresh and last for several weeks. They should keep in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks or 3-4 weeks at room temperature.
You can also freeze them if you want them to last longer. Store in freezer-safe Ziploc for up to 2 months. They defrosted well and tasted as fresh as the day you made them.
