These delicious little nuts are the perfect candy recipe that can be packaged and given to neighbors during the holidays! Sometimes we even pair them with peanut butter balls, chocolate fudge or butter mints.

Quick + easy candied almonds

Have you eaten marzipan before? ?

When we traveled to Europe as newlyweds, my husband and I had them for the first time. We just went to Tower Bridge (often mistaken for London Bridge), cold and hungry. There are street vendors nearby, one selling cinnamon roasted nuts.

We fell in love immediately and may have bought a few bags of good things during our stay.

I have never tried making these cinnamon roasted almonds by myself, but I think we will try them because my husband has always been craving them. I am glad we finally tried them because they are simple and delicious. With the help of my whole family, the jar I made disappeared in one day!

How to make candied almonds

Prepare. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Lightly grease a 10×15 inch jelly roll.

coat. In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg whites. Add water and beat until foaming. Add almonds and mix well. In a separate bowl (or zipper bag), mix sugar, salt, and cinnamon and sprinkle on the nuts. Stir evenly and spread evenly on the oiled pan.

bake. Bake for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Let the almonds cool before storing.

How to store candied almonds + change

storage. After your marzipan has completely cooled to room temperature, you can store them in an airtight container. You have to wait until they cool to prevent any residual moisture from spoiling them. They will stay in good condition for a week, but I promise they will disappear sooner than this. 😉

Mason jars, especially mini jars, are perfect for this! In fact, these are packaged in a cute jar with a bow on the top, making them a great Christmas gift for friends and neighbors.

Change it. You can slightly change the flavor of marzipan by performing any of the following operations.

  • Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • Add 2 teaspoons pumpkin spice
  • Use a pinch of chili instead of cinnamon

Almonds wrapped in cinnamon are very delicious, but we are happy to try it with other nuts. The next thing to try is walnuts (or cashews)!

I think you will like these nuts as much as we do. 🙂
