What it feels like: Imagine it-wooden furniture, dim lighting, pink lotus lights and oriental-style wooden ceiling fans, all with a faint lemongrass fragrance. These are the first things you notice when you arrive at this award-winning restaurant. Hoi An has simple and elegant decorations, knowledgeable staff and a rich menu that will make you hesitate every time the waiter walks by with a fragrant iron platter, from seafood, meat and chicken to a variety of healthy vegetarian dishes. Hoi An has everything on sale.

My partner and I started with the recommendation of the staff, and the pictures on the menu also showed this-I think this is a great help for Vietnamese newbies-and chose to share a plate of fried crispy spring stuffed with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms. Bread rolls, served with rice noodles, coriander and Thai basil. As far as the presentation is concerned, this dish is tempting because I have to prepare my own appetizer-first wrap the spring rolls with lettuce and then dip them in sweet and sour sauce. The rolls are light and crispy. As a fan of crab meat, I chose mud crab as the main dish, topped with sweet Thai basil and black pepper sauce, topped with herbs and fish roe. The staff recommended a mixed fried rice wrapped in lotus leaves-sticky but a bit crunchy and tasted great. My partner chose sizzling tiger prawns with dill, onion and lemongrass. The prawns are tender, and the herbs give the dish a subtle aroma and make the sauce shine. For dessert, we shared chocolate fudge and raspberry sorbet-the fudge is warm and decadent, and the rich sorbet perfectly offsets the sweetness of chocolate!

If you want to: Two people are about 500 dirhams, excluding drinks. Call 04-4052703.
