Triple Cheddar Chicken Pasta Recipe (+Video)
This triple cheddar chicken pasta with creamy homemade cheese sauce has become one of our favorite chicken and pasta dishes. Even my most picky diners love it! With pasta, chicken, seasonings and plenty of cheese, you can’t go wrong!
Whenever I bind at dinner time, pasta is often the answer. This recipe is one of our common recipes, but we also often make pasta Carbonara, homemade macaroni and pasta with cheese and pesto sauce.
If in doubt, remove the pasta
Dinner may be the hardest time of the day, everyone is tired and hungry. I can attest that my mother feels the same way and is often not excited about having to come up with a dinner that everyone likes. It helps me to make a weekly menu plan, but I don’t always stick to it, which means I’m trying to come up with an idea for a delicious dinner that all kids will eat.
That’s usually when I eat one of our favorite pasta.We often make pasta, Alfredo spaghetti and macaroni, but we recently tried a triple cheddar chicken spaghetti recipe (from Holman Homemade) This is great and quite simple.
We made some modifications to it, but added cheese, chicken and pasta, which is very popular with the whole family. There are some picky eaters in our family (unfortunately), so it’s always good to find a recipe that everyone will eat. This usually only happens with the pasta and Mexican food of our crew, but I will accept it. 😉
Easier than it looks
For how fancy this pasta looks, it actually puts together very quickly and easily! Cutting the chicken into pieces before cooking can make it cook faster-if you start with the pasta at the same time, they can be done at about the same time! Then the sauce was stirred in a few minutes. It’s very simple! The following is the specific content:
spaghetti. Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the box.
Chick. Meanwhile, cook the chicken and seasonings in a pan with olive oil until the chicken and seasonings are cooked through.
Sauce. Melt butter in a separate pan, add flour, garlic and milk to make a sauce. Once the sauce thickens, add the cheese and stir until melted.
Combine. Add chicken and pasta to the sauce and stir well. Sprinkle with thyme and oregano, top with grated Parmesan cheese and serve.
Which cheeses are in triple cheddar cheese? I always choose the simple method and buy pre-packaged cheese mixtures. However, you can make your own mixes. Use equal amounts of Vermont white cheddar cheese, thick cheddar cheese, and mild cheddar cheese. Chop each cheese into a bowl and add it to the sauce.
Storage and service tips
Shop: If you end up eating leftovers, just put them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Reheat: Add a small amount of milk (about ½ tablespoon) to the portion. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Continue heating in increments of 10 seconds, stirring in between, until hot. You can also reheat it in a pan over medium heat.
freeze: This dish is best eaten right away. However, you can choose to freeze it before eating.
- Freeze with noodles: Cook the noodles to prevent them from getting wet. Follow the rest of the recipe instructions. Place in a freezer-safe airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 months. Reheat: Thaw in the refrigerator. Heat on medium heat on the stove top. Add 1-2 tablespoons of milk. Stir occasionally until it gets hot.
- Frozen without surface: Cook the chicken and sauce according to the instructions. Store in an airtight container or freezer bag. Reheat: Thaw the sauce in the refrigerator. Heat the sauce on the stove top over medium heat. At the same time cook the pasta according to the instructions, then add the pasta to the heated sauce.
Replenish: Decorate this dish with some vegetables, such as sauteed red peppers or cooked broccoli florets.
and: To complete this meal, we usually eat a variety of breads (we like this cheesy garlic bread), salad and some fruits. It is very suitable for company or Sunday dinners, and can be made mainly with ingredients that are usually on hand.

For the chicken
- 2-3 boneless and skinless chicken breasts cut into 1
- 1 TB fresh thyme
- olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- 1 pound fusili pasta or rotini
- 2 TB butter
- 2 TB flour
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 c milk
- 1 c shredded triple cheddar cheese
- 2 TB fresh thyme
- 1 TB oregano
- 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese
Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the box until it is chewy.
When cooking the pasta, pour the oil into the pot and add the chicken nuggets. Sprinkle with thyme, salt and pepper, and cook until the chicken is cooked through.
In a separate pan, add butter and melt over medium heat. After melting, add flour and mix well. Add garlic and cook for a few minutes, then add milk. Cook until the sauce thickens, then add the cheese and stir until melted.
Then, add chicken nuggets and pasta to the sauce and stir well. Sprinkle with thyme and oregano. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and serve while hot. Please enjoy!
