It’s a weeknight win with juicy shredded pork and a smoky sweet sauce. You can get all of this by pouring some chicken and BBQ sauce into a crock pot. This is one of those great sets, forget it’s a slow cooker meal!
How to Make Pulled Chicken
combine. Add BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, olive oil and garlic powder to slow cooker and toss to combine.
coat. Add the chicken breasts to the slow cooker, making sure to coat the chicken with the sauce on all sides.
Cook. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.
shredded. Shred the chicken and serve hot.
Do not overcook: The crock pot is a great way to start and forget about dinner. However, you can overcook food in a saucepan. Overcooked chicken can become dry and tough. To keep this recipe moist and tender, cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
tip: For easy cleaning, use a crockpot liner. 😉
Planning, Storage + Service
How much should I plan to do? Plan on 1/4 pound of chicken per person. One pound of chicken will yield about 2 cups of pulled chicken. When you’re making it for a large group, don’t worry if you overestimate so you don’t run out of food. You can always freeze any leftover chicken for later use.
storage: Place leftover chicken in an airtight container and refrigerate for 4-5 days or 2 months.
Services for: Shredded chicken is most often served on hamburgers, but you can also use: slider buns, tortillas, pita, nachos and even rice!
Serve: Here are some of our favorite side dishes to use with pulled chicken…
