Simple cheese potato soup-only 5 minutes of preparation time!
You won’t find a simpler cheese potato soup recipe anywhere else! Just add a small amount of ingredients to a clay pot, and after a few hours, you will get a creamy, delicious cheese soup.
It is always the first soup of every light meal we eat because it is so cheesy and delicious. This soup tastes great in a bread bowl, just like some of our other favorites, including broccoli potato soup and cauliflower soup.
Easy potato soup (family favorite)

When the weather turns cold, one of my favorite things to do is to drink soup in a bread bowl (other favorites include broccoli cheese soup and chicken tortilla soup), especially this simple cheese and potato soup. So far, this is my favorite slow cooker soup in a bread bowl! It is so delicious that it can almost be made in Crockport in a few hours. bonus! !
The secret of this potato soup is a pack of frozen potato pancakes. You know what this means… no need to peel, shred or cut potatoes for you! It saves a lot of time and energy. Combine these hash browns with:
- Butter Chicken
- Celery Cream
- Half and half
- Plus tons of cheese

How to make cheese potato soup
I almost wish there were more instructions for this recipe, because the recipe card looks really empty, but this just proves that this is the easiest potato soup recipe. This is an amazing 3 steps:
- Melt the butter in a crock pot, then add the thawed potato pancakes, butter chicken, celery cream and half.
- Cook on high heat for 3-4 hours.
- Add cheese, salt and pepper before serving.
This mashed potato soup is thick, dry, and fragrant! If you want it to be less thick, be sure to add more half or chicken broth until it reaches the consistency you like.
Can this soup be made on the stove? Yes indeed! Melt the butter in a large pot, add the thawed potato pancakes, butter chicken, celery butter and half. Bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes (or until the potatoes are tender). Add cheese, salt and pepper before serving.

What is the best cheese potato soup side dish? We like to add extra cheese, sour cream, chopped bacon, or even chives or green onions. Of course-salt and pepper!

- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 (32oz) package frozen potato pancakes, cut into cubes and thawed
- 2 cans butter chicken
- 1 can celery cream
- 3 cups and a half
- 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
