Road Trip Scavenger Hunt

Road Trip Scavenger Hunt

We’ve been busy in the Merkley family. It keeps things crazy but fun. Summer is a great time for weekly trips to the park and splash pad. We also live close to the beach and often go there to build sandcastles and collect shells. Houston is so big that it’s a mini road trip to almost anywhere we get here (especially in heavy traffic – haha!) which means we’re always on the lookout for tasty and filling snacks on the go. With 5 kids, I’m always sure to have snacks on hand as they get hungry quickly and always ask for food. I’m sure you can get in touch. 😉

I recently used Horizon Organic Snack Grahams to create a sweet and savory portable snack mix that I know the kids will love. These graham crackers are already a favorite at the store, so combining them with pretzels, marshmallows, and M&Ms is sure to be a hit. I found some cute baking cups from Walmart and I mixed them up to make them even more suitable for our adventure. Don’t worry if you can’t find a cup. You can put them in a cup and put them in a small plastic bag (I also found plastic bags in the Wilton section of Walmart). and tie them up.

Find these lovely mugs at Walmart. Great for travel!

The kids love Horizon Organic Snack Grahams – all three flavors are a hit in our house.

Sandwich cookies are also very popular in our house. They’re also great for snacking on the go.

For blending, I combined the following:

  • 1 cup Horizona Organic Chocolate Snack Graham
  • 1 cup Horizona Organic Honey Snack Graham
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup pretzels
  • 1 cup M&MS

This makes about 5 cups of the mixture. 🙂

No baking cups – no worries. Just put in a cup and a plastic bag, tie some ribbons on it, and you’ve got a lovely way to control the mess on the road. 😉

Since we are always on the road and enjoying some family fun exploring Texas, I also wanted to organize a free road trip scavenger hunt. My kids love to play games when we travel and I’m happy to say we’ve only turned it on 4 times since we bought our car DVD player a year ago. I know they will love scavenger hunts and I think your kids will too. It’s perfect for road trips, or even city trips that take longer than usual. 😉
