This recipe is so easy that even my kids can help! This crouton recipe is perfect for leftover bread that’s almost gone bad. Plus, no waste! It’s a win-win situation.

How to make croutons

It doesn’t matter what kind of bread you use – any bread you have at home will do! You can also buy or make a loaf of baguette to use.

cut. When your oven is preheated to 350 degrees, cut a loaf of bread into 1-inch cubes – set aside.

seasoning. Combine butter, olive oil, parmesan, and parsley in a large bowl with a fork. Add to your cubebread and toss everything together. Spread out on a baking stone or cookie sheet.

bake. Cook croutons at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. When the 20 minutes are up, turn the grill on high for 1-2 minutes and check carefully after 1 minute. Serve with any salad or soup of your choice.

How long can homemade croutons last? Since these are seasoned with Parmesan, they will only keep for 2-3 days. You can omit the Parmesan cheese if you want to keep them longer and they will keep for up to 2 weeks.

How to store homemade croutons? To keep them crunchy, the best way to store homemade croutons is at room temperature in an airtight container for 2-3 days. You can keep them in the fridge and they will keep for a few more days, but they will lose a little crunch.

Can homemade croutons be frozen? Yes! Put them in a plastic freezer bag and keep in the refrigerator for several weeks. When you’re ready to use them, place the frozen croutons directly on the baking sheet and heat at 250° F until they are completely defrosted and crispy again.
