cereals. Measure your oatmeal into a large bowl and set aside.

Chocolate peanut butter. In a 1-quart saucepan, heat the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter over low heat, stirring often until melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour the mixture on the cereal and stir until it is evenly spread.

Recipe description:

  • It may be tempting to add more grains to the peanut butter sauce, but don’t do it. You want each piece of chex to have enough chocolate peanut butter for the sugar to stick to it. If you like a juicy mix, try reducing the amount of Chex to only 7-8 cups.
  • This recipe is prepared for basic puppy food and can be mixed with many delicacies such as marshmallows, nuts, pretzels, M&M’s, and riss slices. You can also customize it based on any holiday candies sold at the time.

Puppy Chow Recipe FAQ

Are puppy muffins gluten-free? Yes! Chex produces 7 gluten-free cereals, including the regular Rice Chex used in this recipe. This can also be done without dairy products by using the right butter substitutes such as chocolate and margarine. If you are allergic to peanut butter, you can use different nut butters.

How to store: Store puppy food in an airtight container. It can be stored at room temperature for up to 10 days or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. However, in my house, it will never last that long! You can also freeze it for up to 3 months. Let it thaw before eating.

Full disclosure: this combination of small snacks is addictive! Can’t stop after eating! ! I must also mention-be sure to tell your child that this is not actually for a puppy. 😉
