How to cook spaghetti squash 3 ways!

Spaghetti squash has become one of our favorite dinners. Whether you use it as a pasta substitute for classic spaghetti or on its own in our Greek version, you can’t go wrong!
Spaghetti Pumpkin 101
Spaghetti squash is an edible pumpkin with slightly silky flesh. When it is cooked, it has the texture and appearance of spaghetti!
I think its taste is incredible, and I like the tender silk it produces. The option of substituting real pasta (or any pasta related to this) for a low-carb option is great.
If you have never tried baking and eating spaghetti squash, now is your chance! I promise you will like it and all its health benefits! There are many different ways to cook spaghetti squash. I will discuss these more below. Cut it in, bake it, scoop out the strands and dig in!
How to cut
There are many ways to cut pumpkins, but the next method makes it quick and easy, and is our favorite way to cut pumpkins.
- Use a fork to pierce a line on the outside of the pumpkin.
- Use a large cutter to cut your spaghetti squash lengthwise on a cutting board.
- Scoop out the rope and seeds inside.
This will help your two halves be evenly sized and cooked evenly.
Baking, microwave or IP
Did you know that you can make the perfect spaghetti squash in 40 minutes? ! Don’t hint by cooking spaghetti squash. Cutting it is the hardest part.
cut. First preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Cut the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise, then remove all the seeds.
Cook. Place the two halves of the spaghetti squash with the cut side down on a lightly greased baking pan. Roast the pumpkin for about 30-35 minutes, or until a knife can be easily inserted.
String. After baking, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before threading it.
Microwave instructions: You can also cook spaghetti squash in the microwave! easier! !
Cut the pumpkin in half lengthwise and dig out the seeds. Place it face down in a baking pan filled with an inch of water. Heat in the microwave for about 5-10 minutes, until the pumpkin is soft.
Instant Pot Instructions: Try to cook it in your Instant Pot! First pierce the spaghetti squash with a knife (this will help steam out), then place it on a tripod with a glass of water in the pot.
For a 3 pound pumpkin, cook it under high pressure for 15 minutes. Adjust the time according to the size of the squash ball.

Squash tips and information
How long can the spaghetti squash be kept? Put your spaghetti squash on the counter or in the refrigerator, it should last for 1-3 months! The cooked spaghetti squash will be kept in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
Can you freeze spaghetti squash? You can freeze cooked spaghetti squash in a freezer container for 2-3 weeks.
What can you do with spaghetti squash? It looks like you can make almost anything with spaghetti squash. Try this Greek version with cheese, tomatoes and a little basil.
Of course, you can swap half or all of the regular pasta in any pasta recipe, for example:
Try to use it with pesto or alfredo sauce! It is also great with some olive oil, grape tomatoes and basil. Be creative and let your taste buds make a decision. It is also a good choice with porcupine meatballs!

Preheat the oven to 425.
You need to cut your spaghetti squash lengthwise. We like to do this on a line that you can see under the squash.
For the best cut, use a knife or fork to pierce the pumpkin along the line. You can try to cut along that line, but if it is too hard, heat it in the microwave for 5-6 minutes first.
If you use a microwave oven, it will be very hot, but please put it on the cutting board with a towel and cut the thread.
Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and shredded pork. You can discard or bake those.
Place the spaghetti squash, cut side down, on a lightly greased baking pan. Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until a sharp knife can be inserted with little resistance.
Once it has cooled slightly, use a fork or spoon to pull the meat from the side and watch it start to skew together, looking like spaghetti. Serve with sauce.
