Homemade is better!
Contrary to popular belief, payday is actually one of my favorite candies! I know this is not a super common compared to Snickers or KitKat, but I just like the combination of salty and sweet!
Although it is quick and convenient to pick up candy bars at the grocery store cashier, sometimes homemade candy bars are better! There are some things that can be made from scratch without having to make any “extra” ingredients in the product.
Good news, this homemade version is really simple, and it’s totally worth the effort for that homemade taste!
Homemade payday bar
peanut. Pour half of the peanuts into a greased 11Ă—7 pan, then spread out so that it covers the bottom.
filling. Melt the butter and French fries in a small saucepan until well combined. Add the condensed milk and marshmallows and stir until all are combined. Pour on the peanut mixture.
Ingredients. Put the remaining peanuts on top and let cool (refrigerate if necessary).
Recipe tips
- Microwave melting method: You can use a microwave-safe bowl to heat butter and peanut butter slices at 30 second intervals. Just take out the bowl and stir once every 30 seconds to make sure there is no sticking and/or burning. After successfully melting, add sweetened condensed milk and marshmallows.

- The size of the pot: If you only have a 9Ă—13 pan, your candy bar will be thinner and the time required to cool and solidify may be shorter.
Wrap them up and share! Giving homemade sweets to others can be a bit tricky. Just make sure that nothing you wrap will stick to the candy. Wrap it in parchment paper, and then use other wrapping paper to keep the candy from sticking together, but it also looks good.
Store information
Shop Make your own payday in a sealed container in a cool and dry place. You can put them in the refrigerator, or if it’s cold outside, you should also put them on the kitchen counter. You can keep them for up to a week to prevent the sticks from becoming hard and inedible.
