How to Make French Toast with Eggnog

French toast really is a simple and elegant breakfast dish. Other than simply adding eggnog, this recipe isn’t too different from traditional French toast! Here are some tips to help you get the best results:

  • Beat the eggs well. You don’t want hard-boiled egg white cubes on toast.
  • Use room temperature ingredients. Especially eggs and eggnog. They will combine more smoothly when blended.
  • Soak the bread long enough to saturate the entire loaf.
  • Use medium heat: If it’s too hot, the sugar in the mixture will burn. Too cold and the bread will get too dry throughout.
  • Make sure to preheat the pan so the toast starts cooking right away. Otherwise, the custard will slowly leak out.

bread: English muffin bread is ideal, not only because it tastes great with eggnog, but because its texture is perfect for French toast. If you have other types of bread, you can definitely use it instead.I would recommend Use stale bread or dry it in the oven so it can soak up as much of the eggnog mixture without getting soggy.

cook for a group of people

When I’m cooking for a big party, I’ll definitely pull out my electric frying pan. You can pack several at a time, and they’re really easy to flip.

One disadvantage of mass production is that Keep them warm until you’re ready to serve them. Briefly, preheat the oven to 200°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place it in the oven with the cooked toast on top. The toast can sit in the oven for about 30 minutes before it starts to dry out.

When cooking for a large group, I like Offer self-serve toppings such as:

  • Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
  • buttermilk, maple syrup, or berry syrup
  • Nutella, Peanut Butter or Cookie Butter
  • Different flavored jams or jellies
  • bacon pieces
  • whipped cream

store leftovers

Storage: You can store French toast in the refrigerator or freezer. Either option works for leftovers, or make ahead. I like to put individual slices in a fold-top sandwich bag and put them in a Ziploc. They keep for 1-2 days in the refrigerator or up to 2 months in the freezer.

reheat: You can reheat them in the toaster or microwave when you’re ready to eat them. To reheat heavily use the oven.

If you are a fan of eggnog, I highly recommend trying this recipe. Great on Christmas morning or any time in December. 😀
