Usually the smell is meat-someone grills a delicious steak, chicken or ribs on the grill. Today we are going to share our all-time favorite marinade, it is simple and makes your steak taste so delicious.
My husband and I like to grill steaks on special occasions. This marinade has always been our first choice. The best part? It only requires 4 ingredients. We got it from a neighbor a few years ago, and I’m not sure if we will find another steak marinade recipe that beats it!
How to make steak marinade
**notes**: This marinade is very suitable for 2 whole steaks. If you grill more, then the recipe doubles for every two steaks you add.
As I mentioned, this marinade only requires 3 ingredients (Optional fourth ingredient).
- Italian sauce
- A1 sauce-original flavor
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Lemon juice (completely optional, just adds a bit of enthusiasm!)
mix. All you have to do is put each of these ingredients in a gallon zip bag or Tupperware container and mix. After mixing, add the steak.
Pickled. We like flat iron steaks-they don’t have much fat, they are quite cheap, and they are really delicious! Let the steak marinate for 24 hours-or at least 12 hours.
Plancha. Once they have been marinated long enough, throw them on the grill and cook them to your liking.
What meat is best for barbecue?
Here are seven of the best grill cuts. Remember to burn the steak directly with fire. Thinner steaks can be fully cooked by sintering. For the thinker cut: once it is charred, transfer to indirect heating to finish cooking.
- Flat iron
- Rib Eye
- Premium Beef Brisket
- T bone
- Flank steak
Tips for Steak BBQ:
- Start with a clean grill and add a little vegetable oil or olive oil to the grate before heating.
- Let the steaks reach room temperature before placing them on the grill.
- Turn the steak only once.
- After removing the meat from the grill, let the meat rest. The steak will continue to cook a bit and the juice will come out.
How to tell if the steak is cooked: For steaks 1.5 inches or thicker, use a thermometer. First scorch them with high heat, then move them to the part set to low heat to finish cooking.
- Rare: 120°F
- Moderately rare: 130°F
- Medium: 140°F
For thinner steaks, use a timer and cook at high heat
- Rare: 3 minutes on each side
- Moderately rare: 4 minutes per side
- Medium: 5 minutes on each side
Steak tips and frequently asked questions
A1 What can be used instead of steak sauce? If you don’t have A1 sauce, you can make your own by combining the following methods:
- ½ cup tomato sauce + 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Or ⅓ cup of lemon juice plus ½ cup of tomato sauce + salt and pepper to taste
Any of these can serve as an excellent substitute for A1.
How long should I marinate the steak? Generally the longer the better. If you are in a hurry, 2 hours is sufficient, but 12 – 24 hours or longer is ideal. This allows the marinade to actually enter the meat and make it more delicious.
How to store/freeze steak? After cooking, store it in an airtight bag and then put it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. You can also wrap it tightly and put it in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. If we have leftover steak, we also like to use it in these recipes:

- 1/2 c A1 original
- 1/2 c Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice optional
Put all the ingredients in a gallon bag or Tupperware. Stir well.
Add your steaks (we prefer irons because they are tender and quite cheap).
Marinate for 24-36 hours. You can even do it for 12 hours if you want, but I think at least 24 hours will be better.
