Recipe tips + tricks
How many cups are there in a bag of popcorn? A 3.28-ounce bag of popcorn contains 5 tablespoons of unpopped corn kernels or about 11 cups of popped corn. You can buy 11 cups of regular pre-popped rice, 5 tablespoons of your own corn kernels or a bag of regular microwave popcorn.
How many mini marshmallows should I use instead? You can replace the big marshmallows with mini marshmallows with a ratio of 1:10. So for this recipe, you need 200 mini marshmallows or about 3 cups.
Are there corn syrup substitutes that I can use? There are several options, and although they may change the taste, they have little effect. Replace maple syrup or honey at a ratio of 1:1. In the UK, the closest substitute is “golden syrup.” You can also make your own simple syrup: mix 1/4 cup of water with 1 cup of granulated sugar in a saucepan. Cook until the sugar melts and makes a syrup.
notes:
- Before forming the ball, lubricate your hands with some cooking spray.
- Wrap in cellophane or plastic film and store at room temperature. The ball finally became so sticky and delicious!
My mother said I can only eat a little, otherwise I will have tooth decay. đShe may be right, but I still want to eat the whole bowl!
