Today, we are making a Mexican horchata made from rice. Follow the recipe and enjoy! !

How to make Horchata

mix. First add raw rice, 2 cups of water and cinnamon sticks in the blender. Mix everything until coarsely ground. Add the remaining water and stir for another minute. Pour it into a jar and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).

tension. Strain the ground rice mixture through a sieve (or mesh filter) and discard any lumps. Now add milk, vanilla, cinnamon and sugar to the rice water, and eat after cooling.

Serve. You can store horchata on ice or refrigerate it, or it can be heated and eaten while it is still hot. There is no wrong way, because both are sacred!

Tips, tricks + storage

Soak the rice. You can soak the rice overnight in a bowl of water to make it slightly softer. This will make mixing and grinding easier. Filter the rice before starting to make horchata.

chill. Make sure to cool the rice mixture for at least 4 hours. I usually do this step the day before so I can refrigerate it overnight.

storage. Store your horchata in a refrigerated jar in the refrigerator. Will last about a week! You can also freeze it in a freezer-safe container for up to a month.
