Valentine’s Dinner Menu

We know that Valentine’s Day is often associated with romantic love, but it can be celebrated with anyone special in your life. We try to create a special evening for the family and usually have a fun holiday dinner with the whole family.

Over the years we’ve created a variety of meals – from heart-shaped pizza to steak, and today we’d like to share with you some menu ideas for you to use in your own home.

From breakfast to side dishes to desserts, there are always recipes to help your loved one feel special throughout the day. I searched for posts using funny red and pink colors. Strawberries and chocolate are also associated with Valentine’s Day and I look for other “fancy” recipes and posts that I know your family will love.

Other ways to celebrate with family

Before we share some recipes, we’d like to offer more ideas on things you can do with or for kids to make the day (or night) even more special.

  • Attack the children’s doors with hearts and notes, with a compliment or a reason why you love them.
  • Make homemade Valentine’s Day with the kids.
  • Make Valentine’s Day boxes with the kids.
  • Go to your local library and check out Valentine’s Day books to read together.
  • Share “10 Things I Love About You” with each other.
  • Play your favorite games together.
  • Show love for others by serving them. Find home service programs in your area. One of my favorite sites to search is JustServe.org

Here are some other ideas you can do for dinner to make it even more special:

  • Dinner includes hot pot. Whether it’s savory (cheese) or sweet (caramel or chocolate with fruit), kids will love it!
  • Serve sparkling cider or other delicious beverages in plastic champagne glasses to make it even more special.
  • Add some candles to your dinner to make it even more special.
  • Add a box of crayons to the dinner table and let the kids color before or during dinner with our printable Valentine’s Day placemats.
  • Keep all the food pink or red to make it even more festive!
  • Sprinkle conversation hearts or other Valentine’s candy on the table. You can even add a small box of chocolates to each plate as an after-dinner treat.
  • Make sugar cookies as a treat and let the kids frost and decorate them after dinner.

Valentine’s main course

The best way to figure out what menu you want to make for the evening is to first figure out what you want to make for the main course. Once you know that, you can plan sides and desserts.

I always recommend buying side dishes to keep it simple (like bagged salads) or even desserts so you don’t make everything homemade. But having said that, choose an entree and from there you can plan everything else to create an amazing Valentine’s Day menu!
