Most Popular Easter Dinner Recipes

At an Easter party, everyone has a different idea of what they want for dinner. Turkey is popular at Thanksgiving and so is ham at Easter, but that doesn’t mean you have to eat ham.

Your family can enjoy a variety of options for the Easter break!

Today, we’re rounding up all the most popular Easter dinner recipes. From ham to pork chops to chicken to roasts – all these easy recipes will add plenty of flavor to your dinner menu.

Dinner Planning Tips

Prep and Cook:

  • Create your menu beforehand. This is handy if a guest asks if they can help bring a dish. You already know what you need and where they can help.
  • Go to the grocery store early. Not only will you skip a large group of people, but you won’t let them run out of items they need.
  • Clear out the refrigerator to make room for ingredients and dishes that need to stay cool.
  • What can be done ahead of time?
  • What items need to be cooked/heated and in what order?
  • Use the oven, stove and saucepan.
  • Decide how to stay warm. Crock pots, fondue pots, and thermal coolers are all useful tools.

Presentation:

  • Will you serve plated or buffet style dinners?
  • Will you have tables and chairs for everyone, or will you provide chairs, sofas and other alternative seating? One tip I use when choosing a seat is: if someone needs a knife to cut food, then I provide a table and chairs. (No one likes to put a plate on their lap to try chopping)
  • Will there be a separate children’s area? We often set up tables and chairs on the lawn for adults and picnic blankets for the kids.
  • Use similarly themed dishes. Pastel colors and floral patterns are especially fun at Easter.

Tips for Young Guests

If you eat very little at Easter dinner, keep these tips in mind.

  • Provide a space for baby care, such as a place where guests can change diapers.
  • Depending on the time of dinner, consider having a nap space. When a child is grumpy, it’s worth the extra effort!
  • Indoor and outdoor games for children. Such as these cute Easter printable games or outdoor egg hunts.

Also consider these easter egg hunters…

  • Make a list for the kids to find certain types of eggs such as 1 bunny egg, 3 purple eggs, 2 glitter eggs, etc

  • Get the big kids excited again: Drop Golden Tickets into a few select eggs for special prizes, and money is also great for getting big kids involved.
  • Place coupons like skip chores, pick a home movie, pick an ice cream inside egg date.
  • Glow in the dark egg hunt.

Easter Dinner Menu Ideas

You want to make sure everyone has enough food, so here are some tips. 😉

Easter Appetizers: Plan to have 4 to 6 appetizers for each guest, just enough to satisfy their appetite as they mix, but not enough to fill their stomachs. In addition, a variety of hot and cold, salty and sweet, light and strong are available. Be sure to check out our Easter appetizer series.

easter side: Plan to serve 6 or less guests with 3-4 different sides. Add a side dish for every 5 additional guests. Once you’ve chosen a traditional recipe for starches, vegetables, and salads, add something new that you think your guests will love. Be sure to check out our collection of Easter side dishes.

main course: If you serve an entree, plan to serve 6 ounces per person. If you have more than one entree plan, total 8 ounces per person.

dessert: Plan to offer at least 2 dessert choices per 10 guests. I always have at least one chocolate dessert and one fruit dessert. After that, I just had some fun. The Easter-themed desserts are especially cute. Be sure to check out our Easter dessert collection.
