Arrived at the resort in the afternoon and checked in promptly; despite being a weekday, we were pleasantly surprised to see a large crowd. Expect a huge lobby with a grand dome, lanterns and comfortable sofas. The map provided to us at reception shows the layout of the hotel, including the location of 471 rooms, suites and chalets/villas, numerous restaurants and bars, various swimming pools, beach clubs, and spa and fitness centers.
We knew then it was time to take a walk around the property. We were lucky that a member of the resort team provided us with a buggy. The property is huge, and even if you decide to take a break from a fitness or fitness class, we can assure you of plenty of cardio during your stay. Food and beverage lovers will be pleased to know that the resort features unique restaurants and bars to suit your every need. From Italian classics at elegant Piaceri Da Gustare, tapas at Dome Lounge and al fresco at SOL Beach Lounge & Bar to delightful sunsets at Sunset Bar, international cuisine at The Kitchen and succulent grills at Vida Churascaria & Arriba , you’re back to real enjoyment.

These range from king rooms that sleep two to family rooms with garden access that sleep four; and family beachfront villas for four, to the ultimate, two-bedroom beachfront family villas for six. After sunset we headed to Piaceri Da Gustare for dinner and we chose to sit outside as the weather was so nice. A refined space awaited us and the friendly staff were more than happy to advise us on our meals. Before we start, we found an interesting note at the bottom of the menu called “WaitOGrapher”. When asking for more information, we learned that the innovative program has a staff trained in smartphone photography to capture diners’ celebratory moments. We were impressed. Continuing with our evening dining section, the menu is divided into seven sections namely Crudi (raw seafood), Antipasti, Pizza, Primi, Second, Contorni and Dolci. We chose to start with Polipo all griglia, featuring tender octopus with new potato salad, delicate avocado mousse and capers; and Carpaccio di manzo, with silky carpaccio, Roquefort , egg yolk mousse, truffle aioli and grissini (breadsticks). One bite and we know we’re off to a good start. Next up is Linguini al Nero di sepia, filled with squid ink pasta and seafood such as prawns, mussels and crab meat, served in a warm, earthy bisque that’s delicious. My partner opted for the hearty Guancia di manzo (braised beef cheek with Carnaroli rice and baby carrots). Taking a breather at this point, we opted to sip on hops and grapes. Rich hot chocolate fudge with mint ganache and raspberry sorbet, velvety vanilla pudding with candied tart cherry compliments our culinary experience. With our stomachs full, we walked back to our room, ready to turn in for the evening.
A cup of in-room coffee woke us up and we went for a lovely midday swim to whet the appetite for lunch. Lunch is served at The Kitchen restaurant, where you can sample counters with flavors from all over the world. Picture dips, cold meats, salads like Waldorf Salad, Roca Roasted Vegetables & Parmesan & Tuna with Sweet Corn, Roasted Vegetables, Nuts & Raisins, Cheese & Crackers, and a delicious club sandwich live station. Walk around the venue and stack your plates with entrees such as grilled Nile perch with dill lemon butter sauce, pizza and live grilled chicken; followed by spiced dishes including Dal tadka and beef ghoulash, served with steamed rice or bread, As well as continental delicacies, including pasta with pink sauce, mixed vegetable gratin, grilled rock bass with sautéed greens, and more. The dessert section was full of fresh fruit and sweets, which we really enjoyed. Croissant Butter Pudding, Basbousa, Maamoul Dates, Passion Fruit Pastry, Strawberry Mango Tart, Coconut Cream Pudding, Pineapple Cake, Vanilla Caramel Caramel, Apricot Mousse and Hazelnut Tart are just a few to choose from; each Diners are sure to satisfy their taste buds.
Remember the cardio workout we mentioned earlier? The walk back to our villa was great to help digest food. We spent an afternoon lounging on the beach with lots of shade from the surrounding trees.
Dinner will be held at the refurbished Latin/Caribbean restaurant Vida Churascaria & Arriba Bar. As soon as we arrived, we sat in the outdoor seating expecting live music from the three-piece band. We found vibrant and creative concoctions of jalapeños, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice and egg whites; immersed in beautiful vibes and lively tunes. A serving of PĂŁo de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) provided a mouthwatering start to our meal. And in typical churrascaria fashion, we get a green/red object to indicate when we need the service and when to stop. Diners can start their experience with curried squash in a rich coconut cream soup; followed by smoky flavors from churros, side dishes, salsa and dessert. Side dishes include Caribbean rice and beans, fried plantain, sweet potato fries, Latin quinoa salad, beetroot salad and greens with olive oil and lime dressing. Each is unique in its own way, and they enhance your grilling experience; while you may want to eat each, we encourage you to wait for the main event, which is the grill. Choose from perfectly marinated meats including Spicy flask steak, Beef picanha, Beef striploin, Jamaican jerk chicken, Garlic Shrimp and Leg of Lamb in mint and mustard marinade; served with Chimichurri, Black Aioli and Chili Sauce. Each piece of meat provided a juicy bite that satisfactorily satisfied our taste buds. It was a spectacular culinary experience, but it’s not over yet. We indulged in pineapple coated with cane distillate and burned with a little crushed black peppercorns and a side of vanilla bean ice cream. On the side are Picarones (a type of mini donuts) coated in palm syrup. The restaurant is a must for your next hotel stay.
The next morning, we went to the kitchen again, but this time for breakfast. Both adults and children can look forward to all their favorite breakfast foods, and for those who eat breakfast/brunch, there are even bigger meals. We start with cereal, with choices including Chocolate Chip Cookies, Honey Snacks, Whole Bran Cereal, Corn Flakes or Wheelabix; in addition to fruit and freshly brewed coffee. We appreciate the variety of milk options, including vegan and lactose-free. If you like dipping sauces, choose hummus and cheeses like labne, cream cheese, cottage cheese, cheddar, and more; followed by beef pastrami and salami with olives, smoked salmon, dried fruit, and nuts. From the hot section, look for Parathas with scrambled or boiled eggs with vegetable korma, Poha, Foul medames, baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, veal sausage and turkey bacon and chicken chow mein or egg and vegetable fried rice. Visit the live counter for baked potatoes, roasted tomatoes and hash browns. A striking honey comb is available for diners to try, next to pistachios with honey, truffle mushroom sauce and honey, which you can serve with fresh waffles. For health lovers, try oatmeal or polenta; and carb lovers, reach for croissants and pastries.
