How to make French bread
French bread is not as intimidating as you might think. Just follow these simple steps to make homemade French bread recipes that everyone loves! !
Dissolve the yeast in ½ cup of warm water. In another bowl, mix hot water, sugar, salt, oil and 3 cups of flour-stir. Using the paddle attachment, mix the yeast and hot water/flour mixture until combined.
Add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each cup. After adding all the flour, let it sit for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into 3 portions. On the flour surface, roll each piece into a 9×12 rectangle. Roll up like a jelly roll (a long way).
Place the dough on a greased baking pan with the seam facing down. Scratch the top of the bread 3 to 4 times, then brush with beaten eggs.
Let the dough rise without a cover in a warm place for 30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

You will need to simulate a baker’s oven: place a baking stone on the central rack. Preheat the oven to 450º. Place the metal baking pan on the lower shelf (at least 4 inches below the baking stone)
- Once the French bread rises, it is transferred to the floured crust.
- Cut the bread and spray the bread with a water bottle.
- Slide the bread onto the preheated baking pan, add 1 cup of hot water to the baking pan.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, spray the bread with a water bottle every 3 minutes.
