When you have a crock in your cupboard, you don’t need a rice cooker! Follow our crock pot rice recipe-this is the easiest way!

This is our favorite new way to cook white rice! Perfect for main dishes such as sweet and sour chicken, porcupine balls or coconut curry!

Another way to cook rice

There are many ways to cook rice, but this is great when you don’t have a rice cooker.

All you need is your clay pot and a few hours to slow cook the rice! It does take 2-3 hours at high settings, so it is not suitable when quick rice is required. But this kind of crock-pot rice becomes soft and fluffy every time.

We eat rice in many dinners. I have listed below some of our favorite main dishes to accompany rice-check it out! If you have never tried cooking rice in a slow cooker, now is your chance.

What kind of rice is used?

We tried several different options, but Uncle Ben’s white rice worked best.

Rice is actually partially cooked rice. When the rice is still in the husk, it is soaked, steamed, dried and taken out of the husk. Therefore, the grains are stronger and can withstand longer cooking times without becoming mushy.

Parboiled rice is more nutritious than standard white rice and has a lower glycemic index.

How to cook rice in a crock?

Coat the inside of your earthenware pot with butter or cooking spray.

Add the converted white rice and water to the earthen jar. Be sure to measure accurately. Cover the pot and cook at high temperature for 2-3 hours.You will want Stir quickly every 20-30 minutes, So don’t let it sit alone.

Once the moisture is absorbed and the rice is soft and fluffy, this should be done. Season with salt and pepper before serving!

Recipe tips + storage

Unlike other white rice, the transformed rice should no Rinse well before use.

Seasoned rice: If you know what to pair with rice, you may want to season the rice. You can use broth instead of water to do this. You can also choose to add spices that complement the other flavors you plan to offer.

Leftovers: Put the cooled leftovers into a sealed storage container. Store in the refrigerator for 4-5 days or up to 6 months in the refrigerator. (Make sure that the cooked rice is not left for more than 2 hours before storage).

Reheat:

  • Microwave oven: Add a little water to the rice to break the rice. Cover the plate and heat for 30-60 seconds. Repeat until hot.
  • Stove: Put rice and a little water in a saucepan. Cover with a tight lid and heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until hot.
