So what is Bruschetta? This is an appetizer that originated in Italy and consists of toasted bread with various things such as tomatoes, vegetables, meat or cheese.
However, in the United States, it usually refers to actual tomato-based toppings. Our recipe is based on tomato toppings, but we do serve ours on toast like an Italian appetizer!
If you have ever enjoyed delicious bruschetta in an Italian restaurant and dream of making it at home-this recipe will be your new choice!
How to make bruschetta:
Only 5 ingredients are needed! Talk easy, am I right? Here are the ingredients:
- A can of diced tomatoes
- Roma tomatoes (chopped)
- garlic
- olive oil
- Basil
mix. Add all the ingredients to the bowl and mix well. Then, serve immediately with hot bread slices.
refrigerationIf you do not serve immediately, make sure to store the Bruschetta mixture in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. As I mentioned, we like to put our bread on toast.
What kind of bread does Bruschetta use?
You can use any bread you like best. Here are some of the most popular breads used to make bruschetta:
- Italian bread
- Sourdough bread
- Baguette or Hogi Roll
- French bread
- European bread
We usually buy a baguette and cut it into thin slices. Then put them on the biscuit slices, butter each slice and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Bake on HIGH for 2-5 minutes (depending on how fast and hot your oven is).
We also like to cut the bread thicker, spread butter, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and spaghetti, and cook on a pan.
After the bread is baked, put a spoonful of bruschetta on top of each slice-then sprinkle with shaved parmesan cheese (optional but delicious)!
Storage, freezing + more tips
How long can Bruschetta be kept? We keep it in an airtight container until it can be eaten, and then it can only be stored for a maximum of 2 hours.
How to store Bruschetta? If in a hurry, we will add all the ingredients except canned tomatoes and basil and add them before serving. After making it, it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours.
How to store bruschetta bread? If it has been made, we will save it in the Ziploc bag. Pairing with bruschetta is definitely the best choice.
Can Bruschetta be frozen? Yes, bruschetta can be frozen. Frozen bread and tomato fillings separately. Please note that the frozen tomato toppings may become more mushy. When serving, let the tomato toppings thaw, and then reheat the toast in the oven.
What else can I put on the bruschetta? There are many alternatives to Italian toast ingredients. Try to include some of them: vegetables such as corn, cured meats such as diced salami, pepperoni, ham, pieces of bacon, pastrami, cheese, such as diced mozzarella or Diced provolone cheese.
