Restaurant style chicken tacos

One of the main dishes of all our Mexican family gatherings is fried chicken tacos. Each of us has a slightly different approach, but when we enjoy Mexican cuisine and our famous empanadas and enchiladas at Luna events, this is something we always have and look forward to.

These tacos are simple and delicious! The best thing is that I like to cook all my chicken in advance and then divide it into freezer bags so that I can take out a bag in the morning and let it thaw for a whole day, and then be ready to cook dinner in time .

This also helps them to be loved by the whole family. They taste like chicken tacos found in local Mexican restaurants-crunchy and delicious!

How to make chicken tacos

Making these tacos is no easy task. There are many ways to make a chicken mix, but we like to include the following:

  • Shredded chicken
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Mexican style cheese
  • Diced green pepper (optional)

My mother only uses chicken, salt, pepper and oregano. There are many variations of chicken filling, so use your favorite ingredients and spices.

To make tacos, first prepare your chicken, so it is exactly what you want. I usually throw it in a low-speed crock for most of the day and cook a bunch at a time. Once it’s done and cooked all the way through, then remove it from the crock pot, chop it up and add the spices, cheese and peppers.

Add vegetable oil to the saucepan and turn to low/medium heat. Add some chicken in the middle of the tortilla. Then clamp it with pliers. When the oil is ready, I like to shake mine back and forth until I can put the tacos down without opening.

Quickly fry? If your tortillas crack easily, you can fry them in oil for a second or two on each side, then fill them up and re-fry them. We like to use the Kroger brand tortillas, which do not break easily and do not need to be fried quickly first.

After both sides are cooked, remove the tacos and place a paper towel on a plate to help drain the oil.

Add any toppings, such as shredded lettuce, tomatoes and/or extra cheese.

Taco changes:

Can you make soft tacos? sure. If you want to make tacos with the same chicken mixture, we recommend heating the chicken, salt, pepper, and green chilies in the microwave, and then adding the cheese before adding the soft flour tortillas.

Can you roll tacos? Yes, you can roll them up instead of making them into taco shapes. When they are rolled, we call them flautas. They taste great and are also very suitable as an appetizer for parties.

Other flavors: You can also change the taste of these tacos by adding different spices and cheeses. My mother likes to make them with shredded chicken, salt, pepper, oregano and cheese.

Storage and service

How to store leftover tacos? We think that the reheating effect of fried food is not as good as when it is fresh, but having said that, if we have leftover tacos, we will put them on a plate covered with plastic wrap, and then low in the oven or use the microwave Reheat.

What to serve with chicken tacos? We have many favorite recipes, and we like to use this shredded chicken taco recipe to match, but here are some of our favorites:

These tacos are so stinky! ! We also added shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and salsa to make these very popular at dinner.

I know you can buy pre-made shells in the store. Fried stuff is not healthy, but these tacos are delicious and will be popular in your next Mexican meal. 🙂
