Pillsbury Crescent Roll Chicken Buns Recipe (+Video)


The shredded chicken is mixed with cream cheese, Italian seasoning and butter chicken and rolled into butter crescent dough! These delicious chicken crescent rolls have become a family favorite.

This is one of the best and easiest dinner recipes using Pillsbury crescent rolls. Canned dough comes in handy when I am in a pinch, I can make simple meals like this, pig in a blanket, or spinach rolls!

A few years ago, when my assistant Jezzy brought me here, I ate these delicacies for the first time. Her family made them for us, and I can’t believe they are so delicious and delicious. She said they are family favorites and have been making them for years.

Her family calls them chicken pockets, but I have seen similar recipes called various different things-chicken buns, chicken crescent rolls, chicken crescent rolls… whatever you decide to call them, they will let you Surprised!

As you can imagine, crescent rolls stuffed with shredded chicken, cream cheese, creamy chicken and Italian seasoning would be great-and they are! !

One meal in 30 minutes!

This recipe only takes 30-35 minutes from start to finish, which is perfect for our crazy busy family! This may be why we often eat these-they taste like a 60-minute meal, but only for 30 minutes. 😉

Gravy. First make the gravy mixture. Add cream cheese and two pots of soup to a medium pot, then turn to medium heat. Add the seasoning mixture and stir until fully combined. Turn down the fire.

filling. Pour most of the mixture into a large bowl, leave enough gravy in the pan and place it on the chicken bundle. Add the shredded chicken and green onions to a large bowl and mix well. Set aside.

thing. Separate the crescent roll dough and place on the cookie sheet. Scoop a scoop of chicken mixture onto the crescent roll dough and roll it (we fold the left side, fold the right side, and then roll to the longer point).

Bake and serve. Bake in the oven for 9-12 minutes. Pour the remaining sauce/gravy mixture on top and serve while hot.

Tips, alternatives and plugins

substitute. Creamy mushroom soup or creamy celery soup can be used as a substitute for creamy chicken soup, depending on personal preference.

If you want to replace cream cheese, you can use plain Greek yogurt, although it may change the taste and texture.

Optional add-on. Mix any of the following with chicken and onions (maximum 1 cup extra mix).

  • Chopped spinach
  • Chopped broccoli
  • celery
  • green pepper
  • Diced jalapeno

To make things easier, you can use canned chicken, but I prefer to use chicken cooked in a crock pot, then chopped, or even grilled chicken. 😉

  • 1 package Italian seasoning (or 3 TB)

  • If necessary, serve hot and drizzle with the remaining gravy.
