Recipe Tips
cake Floor: Cake layers can be made using box cakes, homemade using your favorite cake recipes, or even regular bakery cakes. You can also change the taste to your liking.
green sticky: The green filling is a green cheesecake pudding mix. You can use vanilla or white chocolate pudding, or even pistachios that are already green. A note about pudding: You want to buy packaged pudding mixes rather than pre-made puddings. The pudding mix needs to be an instant pudding or it won’t set properly. Make the mix according to our recipe, not the recipe on the box.
addition: The fudge really makes this dish interesting. You can use sticky worms and sticky bugs. You can add chocolate bugs. You can use festive sprinkles.
Leading, Storage + Service
one step ahead: You can make this the day before, but you don’t want to make it too early because the pudding will end up with the cake layers saturated and soggy. If you want to make different elements ahead of time, you can store them separately until you’re ready to assemble the little things.
leftovers: If you happen to have little leftovers, you can cover it and keep it in the fridge for a few days. The cake layers may become saturated and soft but still delicious.
Serving dishes: Since it’s the little things, you really want to stick with Winding Up so you can really enjoy the nice and fun layers. There are a lot of interesting options out there. You can use a more traditional side dish, served on an elevated shelf like this one. You can even make individual gadgets out of clear plastic cups. Here are some other bowls I found while searching online that are really cool to use.
Make them individual serving sizes!
Want to make and serve side dishes in individual cups? no problem!
It works here too. Layering each cup requires more work, but it’s also a good idea. Just add a bit of the pudding mix, then add the crumbled cookies and cake slices, and keep repeating the layers until you reach the top.
You can see how we did it in the image above.
