Homemade Seasoned Taco
Have you ever thought about making your own taco seasoning? ! I’ll admit I didn’t realize I needed it for recipes until recently, going all out and not having time to run to the store. I found a recipe for it and thought we’d give it a try. It was easier than we thought and tasted just like taco seasoning you can buy.
I’ll say this in advance – yes, store bought taco seasoning is easier, but I love having a great recipe on hand that I can make anytime without having to run to the store.
I also always have ingredients on hand which is a bonus. It also technically only takes a few minutes to assemble, making it faster at home than running to the store. 😉
How to Make Taco Seasoning
Any paprika will work for this recipe, but we especially like Gebhardt paprika. 😉
Mix and store. Once you’ve gathered all the ingredients and crushed your red pepper flakes, you just need to combine all the spices. Mix well and store in an airtight container. So easy and delicious!
We even thought these would be great in a jar and as a gift for friends since everyone tends to use taco seasoning. 😉
Tips + Storage Information
A packet of taco seasoning Only about 2 tablespoons per pack is enough for 1-2 pounds of ground meat, depending on your taste preference.
Our recipe actually contains less paprika than other seasonings, but if you are Worry about being too spicy For kids, you can halve the amount of paprika and add more onion or garlic powder.
What if you are Worry about the “chunky” texture Or if the particles are not uniform in size, you can grind the spices with a mortar and pestle before storing them
shop for two or three years. As long as it stays dry, unopened, and at room temperature, it should last a long time. We like to store ours in a mason jar with a snap lid.
