Tips, replacement + storage

Low-carb options: Spaghetti squash is a healthier alternative to regular spaghetti, but it only requires more preparation. It has a slightly different texture, but overall, although this recipe contains a lot of cheese, it is generally a healthier choice.

Meat changes: As I mentioned before, if your family doesn’t like spicy sausages, you can use all ground beef, or find a sweeter and milder sausage.

Advance/freezer meal: You can assemble this casserole in advance before baking, cover it, and put it in the refrigerator. Just make sure to put cheese on top after the initial baking time, as the instructions say.

You can also freeze this casserole, defrost and bake to get quick dinner ideas. The best idea is to assemble it in a disposable pot so that you don’t risk the glass pot breaking. This will be a great dish that can be baked and brought to those in need!

Can’t wait to do it again! I might add some Parmesan cheese on it next time. 😉
