Easy Cheese Baked Pasta
I have loved spaghetti since I was a kid! In fact, it has always been the family’s favorite dinner recipe, and it is also a recipe that everyone in my family likes.
We grew up in this pasta recipe and all introduced this to our own family, which means that the entire staff (cousins and everyone) likes this recipe very much.
Today’s recipe is a turning point for a classic dinner, because it is a kind of baking! This baked pasta is easy to make and delicious! It’s a bit spicy because it has Italian sausage, but if you think your kids don’t like that, you can just use hamburger meat
If you want to take the plunge and try a new pasta recipe, I strongly recommend you to try it. We make pasta one night a week, and it is good for us to have several recipes to choose from. You better believe this is being added to the pasta rotation as soon as possible!
How to make baked pasta
Just a few simple steps can make this pasta bake…
spaghetti. Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package. While cooking, prepare the egg mixture. Drain the pasta, mix with the egg mixture, and place on the bottom of the 9×13 casserole.
meat. In a large frying pan, cook beef, sausage, sugar, oregano and basil over medium heat until the meat is cooked through. Drain and stir in the pasta sauce and tomato sauce. Spoon over the pasta mixture.
Note: You can find sweet Italian sausages with many of the same flavor characteristics, but no spicy red pepper flakes.
bake. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with cheese and fresh basil, and cook for another 15 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes before serving. Please enjoy!
Tips, replacement + storage
Low-carb options: Spaghetti squash is a healthier alternative to regular spaghetti, but it only requires more preparation. It has a slightly different texture, but overall, although this recipe contains a lot of cheese, it is generally a healthier choice.
Meat changes: As I mentioned before, if your family doesn’t like spicy sausages, you can use all ground beef, or find a sweeter and milder sausage.
Advance/freezer meal: You can assemble this casserole in advance before baking, cover it, and put it in the refrigerator. Just make sure to put cheese on top after the initial baking time, as the instructions say.
You can also freeze this casserole, defrost and bake to get quick dinner ideas. The best idea is to assemble it in a disposable pot so that you don’t risk the glass pot breaking. This will be a great dish that can be baked and brought to those in need!
Can’t wait to do it again! I might add some Parmesan cheese on it next time. 😉
