Cinnamon roll icing made with cream cheese

Cream cheese frosting is a must for freshly baked cinnamon rolls, but you can even use it for donut muffins, sweet breakfast casseroles or banana bars! It is versatile.
Best icing for cinnamon rolls
It should be illegal to eat cinnamon rolls without thick icing. The icing finishes the cinnamon rolls, let it lick your fingers nicely.
I like to put icing sugar on freshly baked cinnamon rolls. Make sure it penetrates every nook and cranny is the best part! No part of the cinnamon roll should be uniced (just my personal opinion, but I think you will agree with me.)
This recipe is the easiest icing recipe ever. It only takes 4 ingredients and a few minutes to become a frosting heaven! All you need is a bit of butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk (or half and a half).

How to make? Collect your ingredients first. Make sure the butter and cream cheese are soft, It does not melt, and it is not cold when taken out of the refrigerator. I like to put mine on the counter for at least 45 minutes before making the icing.
Take a medium bowl and mix all the ingredients together. You can do this manually or with a blender. The frosting is nice and smooth. When ready, spread it on warm cinnamon rolls.
It is easy to store icing. If you need to make it in advance, you can cover it in the refrigerator for a few days until you need to use it.
Let it sit on the counter for a few minutes, then spread it on the cinnamon rolls. You can even use a little milk or half a milk to dilute the frosting.

Want to change the taste a little bit? Add a little cinnamon to the frosting for extra spice!
If you want to make these in the fall, you can even add a little pumpkin pie spice to it. It adds cinnamon, but it also adds the flavor of autumn that we love very much.
If you prefer frosting without cream cheese, feel free to put it aside! Just add more butter and a little vanilla extract. Mix before applying until you get the correct consistency. 😉
