Sugar cookies are our favorite cookies of all time! ! If you feel the same way, you will love our sugar cookie bars and sugar-free cookie bars.
So soft and good!
I like homemade cookies, especially sugar cookies! However, I am also a bit picky about them.
- They cannot be crunchy. They must be super soft!
- The ratio of icing to cookie needs to be accurate.
- The taste of almonds is always essential (if you have never eaten cookies with almond extract, then you have not really lived.)
Fortunately, my mother found the best sugar cookie recipes a few years ago and we have been making them ever since. In fact, they are so good that we receive requests to make them for different events and/or wedding banquets. They are really that good. In my opinion, the reason why this cookie recipe is so good is because it satisfies all of my above requirements. đ
How to make sugar cookies
Because my mother attributed these cookies to a science, I was always a little afraid to try this recipe. I am very happy that I have overcome this because we have been making them now.
Mix butter, cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and almond extract in a large bowl to make sugar cookies. Stir until fluffy. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until a soft dough is formed.
Roll the dough onto a floured surface, about 3/8 inch thick. Cut with a cookie cutter and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Recipe tips + tricks
Here are some tips and tricks to make sure these cookies become nice and soft:
- When making the dough, don’t handle too much. Excessive mixing of the dough will harden the dough.
- Roll out the dough to about 3/8 inch thick. Thinner dough will cook too fast, making crunchy biscuits.
What should I do if the sugar cookie dough is too dry?A generationIf your dough really cracks when you try to roll it, the best way is to sprinkle a small amount of water (water is the least likely to change the shape of the cookie dough during baking) and knead until the dough stops cracking. Be careful not to overdo it, let it become slimy!
What should I do if the sugar cookie dough is too sticky? Make sure to use the correct technique when measuring flour in order to obtain the correct quantity required by the recipe. If you need to add extra flour, sprinkle it in small amounts at a time until it reaches the right consistency.
Our favorite icing
Everyone has different preferences for sugar cookie frosting. Some people like cream cheese frosting, our favorite one is the one we use in our carrot cake recipe.
Because there is cream cheese in the cookie recipe, we like this classic sugar cookie frosting, which includes:
- butter
- Powdered sugar
- milk
- vanilla
- Almond extract
- Food coloring (optional)
To make the frosting, use a hand blender to mix all the ingredients. Add more milk until you reach the consistency you want the most. If you want, you can add food coloring. Sprinkle some delicious Jimmy sauce on top and you are ready to go! !
How to preserve sugar biscuits
we recommend store Put them in an airtight container (after frosting) and put them on the counter. They should last up to 4-5 days. You can put them in the refrigerator for a day or two.
If you plan to freezing Your cookies, try to freeze them before adding icing sugar. They will better maintain a frost-free state. Either way, stack them in a sealed container separated by wax paper. They should stay in good condition for up to 3 months.
I can really eat a dozen of these sugar cookies! They are so soft, so delicious, so delicious! I highly recommend these cookies and hope to get your feedback. đ
