Easy BBQ Chicken Pizza
Every Friday night is the night of pizza and movie at Merkley’s. We sometimes make our own pizza-sometimes we choose one.
Not long ago, we decided to try a new recipe for homemade barbecue chicken pizza, it was amazing!
We are usually a little boring, adding only tomatoes and cheese, but adding barbecue sauce to the pizza sauce, plus diced chicken, bacon and cilantro, makes our pizza more delicious.
We decided to make a barbecue pizza to commemorate the 35th anniversary of KC Masterpiece. They released a limited edition sauce-KC Masterpiece® Kansas City Barbecue Sauce, which is perfect for recipes, making this pizza a perfect combination of cheese, bread and grill!
The best part is that this pizza is so easy to make! We like it so much that we added it to the meal planner because it is very good and easy to put together.
How to make barbecue chicken pizza:
To make this barbecue chicken pizza recipe as simple as possible, we use a jar of pre-made pizza dough, as well as roast chicken. It saves a lot of time without having to mix dough or cook chicken. In that case, it only takes about 20 minutes to put this pizza together!
Chick. First cut your chicken into cubes and sprinkle with barbecue sauce. Bake the pizza dough for 5 minutes at any temperature indicated on the dough package.
Barbecue sauce. While the pizza dough is still warm, add barbecue sauce to the pizza sauce (add more or less if needed).
bake. Add cheese, grilled chicken, cilantro, and bacon to the pizza. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Bake for another 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dough is golden brown.
Pour more barbecue sauce and enjoy!
Does the chicken need to be cooked in advance? Yes! The pizza hasn’t been in the oven long enough to cook the chicken properly. To make this step easier, you can use grilled chicken, canned chicken nuggets, or you can store cooked chicken in the refrigerator for a busy day.
One of the easiest ways to change the flavor is to use a different cheese. Mozzarella cheese is my favorite because it matches well with various ingredients, melts easily, and is beautiful. That being said, you can use your favorite cheese with or in place of mozzarella cheese. I recommend trying: smoked Gouda cheese, blue cheese or gorgonzola cheese.
You can also add any of your favorite pizza toppings, such as pineapple, sausage, and red onion.
Make in advance, freeze and store
Can I make this in advance and freeze it? Yes, you can make this barbecue pizza recipe in advance and freeze it for a delicious fast food.
How to freeze? Freeze and bake the pizza crust for 7 minutes. Remove from the oven and place toppings. Place the pizza on a freezer-safe aluminum baking pan or a clean cardboard, and then quickly freeze it for about 2 hours.
Take it out of the refrigerator, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and then wrap it in aluminum foil. Label and freeze for 3-6 months.
Bake the preheated oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, place the pizza on the baking sheet, and bake until hot and the cheese melts; about 5-7 minutes. To flip the nice brown top on the broiler, let the top cook for another 1-2 minutes. Pay close attention to it. *Note: Freezing canned pizza dough may prevent it from expanding like it did when freshly baked.
How to store leftover grilled pizza? The remaining pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Place the slices in an airtight container and separate each slice with paper towels or parchment paper.
For best results, please reheat in the oven or oven. If you are in a hurry, you can reheat it in the microwave.
