Baked Tarquitos Recipe Simple + Healthy

Simple and delicious oven-baked taquito. These burritos are stuffed with chicken, cheese, salsa and many delicious spices!

We love tacos! ! This means that we also like taquitos. We have the classic chicken taquito version, but today’s recipe is a healthier recipe that is baked and full of so many flavors! We like to pair this recipe with our Spanish rice and homemade salsa.

Oven Baked Tacos

Have you eaten Taquitos before? Unlike typical folded tacos, tacos are usually rolled up, but usually have some of the same ingredients as tacos—meat and cheese. When we grow up, we call these flautas, but now we call them taquitos, because most people know they are like this, and when we say “flautas”, we usually get weird looks. Anyway, we have been making these since I was born and have them regularly.

Our all-time favorite taquitos recipe is these cream cheese and chicken taquitos, but we want to try the grilled chicken taquitos version to get rid of all the oil in the original version and love the result!

Now, like most deep-fried to roasted recipes, they are drier than the regular version, but still very delicious. If you are used to oily, crunchy taquitos, adding salsa, sour cream or guac is the perfect complement to make these feel less dry.

Is there oil or no oil?

For this particular recipe, it requires heating tortillas on a pan to make them more flexible (this can be done with or without oil). If you want to be healthier and want to use less or no oil, there are some things you can do…

  • You can fry the tacos quickly without oil, add them to the pan, and bake them.
  • You can spray tortillas with vegetable oil or olive oil before baking.
  • You can brush with olive or vegetable oil with an oil brush before baking.
