Recipe tips

Toffee bits: The easiest way is to find the shredded toffee pieces in the baking aisle. If your grocery store does not have them, you can chop Heath candy bars or make your own toffee chopped.

Sweetened condensed milk It is different from evaporated milk, so make sure to buy the correct type. If you wish, you can make a good substitute in the following ways:

  • One way is to use evaporated milk. Mix 1.5 cups of sugar and 12 ounces of evaporated milk in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, cook until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
  • Another method is to use 4 cups of dry milk powder. Pour 1 cup of boiling water into the blender. Add ÂŒ cup of butter or margarine and 2 cups of sugar. Mix until combined. Add 1 cup of powdered milk and mix. Repeat for each remaining cup. Store the mixture in the refrigerator. 1 ⅓ cup of this homemade mixture is equal to a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk.

oat: Old-fashioned oatmeal and oatmeal are the same. Instant oats are oatmeal cut into small pieces. They can be used in place of old-fashioned oats, but will give the bar a slightly different texture.

Variety

Just change the type of candy chips you use, you can easily change the taste.
