These almond toffee bars are so good that we had to make them again after two days (not kidding!) They are similar to magic wands, but in my opinion, they taste better! They are chewy, soft and sticky, and easy to make.
If you want to eat chocolate bars other than Pan Chewies (cookie bars) or brownies, then you can try this recipe.
If you like typical magic sticks, you will love these almond toffee sticks. They are the perfect combination of oatmeal, chocolate and toffee, and all the delicacies you can imagine. When I said that we were apart these two days last week, I was not joking — lol! ! Let me tell you-this is great, because of the stress last week, these beauties provide a little comfort. 😉
Making Almond Toffee Bars
Prepare. Line your 8″ x 8″ square pan with parchment paper. Spray the parchment paper with cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Crispy. Combine graham cracker crumbs, oatmeal and salt in a bowl. Add the melted butter and mix well. Press the mixture into the bottom of the pan.
Floor. Sprinkle toffee on the bottom layer. Then, sprinkle chocolate chips on the toffee. Finally, sprinkle almonds on the chocolate chips.
bake. Pour the sweetened condensed milk on top. Bake for 30-32 minutes.
Cool + service. Cool for a few hours. Service and enjoyment.
Toffee bits: The easiest way is to find the shredded toffee pieces in the baking aisle. If your grocery store does not have them, you can chop Heath candy bars or make your own toffee chopped.
Sweetened condensed milk It is different from evaporated milk, so make sure to buy the correct type. If you wish, you can make a good substitute in the following ways:
- One way is to use evaporated milk. Mix 1.5 cups of sugar and 12 ounces of evaporated milk in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, cook until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
- Another method is to use 4 cups of dry milk powder. Pour 1 cup of boiling water into the blender. Add ¼ cup of butter or margarine and 2 cups of sugar. Mix until combined. Add 1 cup of powdered milk and mix. Repeat for each remaining cup. Store the mixture in the refrigerator. 1 ⅓ cup of this homemade mixture is equal to a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk.
oat: Old-fashioned oatmeal and oatmeal are the same. Instant oats are oatmeal cut into small pieces. They can be used in place of old-fashioned oats, but will give the bar a slightly different texture.
Just change the type of candy chips you use, you can easily change the taste.
I use milk chocolate chips for this recipe and like it a lot, but you can use:
- White chocolate
- dark chocolate
- peanut butter
- Cinnamon Chips
