Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

I make chocolate strawberries every Valentine’s Day. This is a bit of a tradition. My husband and I not only love them, but the kids also start to like this simple dessert idea.

A few years ago, my sister told me that her husband also likes chocolate strawberries and she wants to learn how to make strawberries. It was then that I realized that I had fine-tuned my chocolate strawberry recipe (by learning some tips and tricks for making them over the years), and I shared it with her. She was very happy afterwards because she realized how easy it was to make them.

When making chocolate strawberries, the first thing to decide is what kind of chocolate you want to use.

The best chocolate for dipping strawberries

There are many different chocolates to choose from for dipping strawberries. Most work is fine, but some have different results. We usually use candy coating or Baker’s chocolate for our chocolate strawberries.

Confectionery coatings are cheaper and usually have more, so this is our first choice chocolate. It also melts easily and sets up perfectly. The result is a more candy-like chocolate coating with higher hardness.

When we make fewer strawberries or really want to impress our guests, we use Baker’s chocolate. It is a bit expensive, but the coating is softer and tastes better.

How to melt chocolate chips for dipping

Chocolate chips can also be used for chocolate dipping. We think this is the least reliable chocolate because it burns more easily. To melt it, heat the chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Repeat for 15 seconds in the microwave until all the chocolate is melted. On the stove, be sure to keep it cool and keep stirring until it’s all melted.

Do you need a double pot to melt chocolate?

Using a double pot will definitely help melt the chocolate and also help it become silky smooth. If you don’t have a double pot, you can simmer an inch of water in a small pot. Put a glass bowl on top of it with chocolate in it, and stir until the chocolate is completely melted.

Having said that, we rarely use double pots. We just heat the chocolate in a pot on low heat and stir constantly with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

How to make chocolate strawberries

As mentioned earlier, these strawberries are easy to make. If you have bought them before, you may remember that they are very expensive. Making them at home is definitely a way to save money and get more. With a supply of about $10, we can get about 2 dozen 16 ounces of strawberries. A pack of candy coating (amazing!). This is what you need to make them…

The following are the supplies needed to make this macerated strawberry:

  • 1 pint strawberries (washed and dried)
  • Candy Coating or Baker’s Chocolate (or Chocolate Chips)-Chocolate and White Chocolate
  • parchment
  • Plastic bag and scissors

Clean strawberries. First, rinse your strawberries. Place them on paper towels to dry. I usually make this the morning I make them.

Prepare the baking tray. Line a baking sheet or baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the strawberries next to the pan. Also, when the chocolate melts, place a hot pad next to the pan. notes: Sometimes the parchment paper does not hold well and starts to roll up. To prevent this, I spray a little cooking spray on the pan and place it on the parchment paper. Works miraculously! 😉

Melt the chocolate. Melt your candy coating. This may be the tricky part, but the trick is to make only 6 cubes at a time on low heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula. Yes, it may take at least 5 minutes, your hands will feel tired, but your candy will melt completely. When the candy coating is completely smooth, keep away from heat.

Dip strawberries. Hold your chocolate can at an angle. Grab the stem of the strawberry, dip both sides in the chocolate, and place it on the parchment paper. Continue to do this for all strawberries. notes: 6 candy coatings will cover 15-20 small/normal sized strawberries. It will also cover 10-12 large strawberries.

Let’s set it up. Let the strawberries sit on the counter until they harden. Melt the chocolate on the opposite side and put it in a zipper bag with a small cut in the corner. Put the melted chocolate in it and drizzle it back and forth on the dipped strawberries.

In order to set faster, put the strawberries in the refrigerator. Remember that cold sometimes produces condensation on strawberries, which sometimes prevents the chocolate drizzle. Sometimes it does nothing, but I hate taking risks. 😉

Chocolate Strawberry Tips + Toppings

Delicious chocolate strawberries, cheap and delicious. I would say it is a ton cheaper than in the store! 😉If you prefer chocolate, do the other way around, dip strawberries in chocolate and drizzle with white chocolate.

And be sure to add any other favorite ingredients, including:

  • Light rain
  • Chopped nuts
  • Crushed candy pieces

How to store chocolate strawberries

After making it, you can put the strawberries in an airtight container with wax paper. If you eat it right away, you can put the strawberries outside if you eat it on the same day.

How long can the soaked strawberries be kept?

They usually only keep for 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but it is best to eat them within 48 hours of making them. Be sure to store it properly to prevent the fruit from spoiling.

I won’t lie…I made these twice last week, and I will make them again on Friday! ! 😀
