There is something magical about decorating holiday sugar cookies as a family. This is one of my kids’ favorite things to do together. We love cutting shapes and getting an artistic touch with decor.
Not only are these sugar cookies super fun to decorate, but their flavor is totally irresistible. They are soft and velvety with the perfect sweetness.

Tips for Perfect Cookies
Some notes Some tips on how to make sure your cookies look great every time include:
- Overmixing the dough will result in tougher cookies.
- Don’t roll out the dough too thin unless you want crispy cookies. I like to stick to â ” thick.
- If the dough is too dry when you roll, just sprinkle a little water on the dough and knead a few times. Make sure not to add too much.
- If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little flour and knead it.

Prepare. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a baking sheet for later use.

Roll cut. Lightly flour the counter and roll out the dough to about 15 pounds. inch. (For crisper cookie rolls, the dough is thinner.) Once the dough is rolled and cut with a holiday cookie cutter.
bake. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool before garnishing.

Divide and color. You can make all the frosting one color or divide it into separate bowls and mix with different food colorings.

Variety
Christmas baking wasn’t done until I made sugar cookies. When I made this recipe, I decided to stick with trees and candy canes, but you can use any Christmas-shaped cookie cutter you want. Some other notable shapes include:

Make sure you also have different food coloring gels and sprinkles to match so each Christmas sugar cookie turns out delicious and visually delicious.
