Who likes Mexican food? ! We are indeed!
Yes, many people celebrate Cinco de Mayo at their favorite Mexican restaurant, but our family has it almost every week. That might be because we are Hispanic, or just because we like it so much!
Therefore, whether it’s a holiday, a carnival or a weekend dinner, we want to make sure you have all the Mexican recipes you need.
Plan your Mexican dinner
Just like any dinner party, you need to plan the menu in advance.
- Decide which dishes should be made fresh and which dishes can be made in advance. (For more storage and reheating information, please refer to the individual recipes.)
- Combine traditional cuisine with several new dishes. Be sure to try new dishes beforehand to solve any recipe problems.
- Use dishes of different flavors and textures.
- Please note that while some people like spicy Mexican food, others prefer lighter dishes. I recommend marking which dishes are spicy and which are milder.A good way to solve this problem is to prepare milder dishes, but prepare hot sauce for those who want to make their plates a little more exciting
Sit down or self-service: The number of guests may determine whether you host a sit-down or buffet-style dinner. Sit-down dinners are best for small gatherings, while buffet-style dinners can accommodate 5 or 50 guests. Mexican cuisine is especially suitable for buffets. In addition, I use hot pot and crock pot to keep warm.
Usually, when dining with guests, we like the following:
- Appetizers-1-2 (Salsa + dipping sauce can be made in advance.)
- Side â 1 (Rice is a good rice that can be made in advance and kept warm in a slow cooker or hot pot)
- Main dishes-1-2 (can be prepared in advance). Any fried food is usually made before serving.
- Dessert â 1 (usually prepared in advance and added ice cream) đ
Favorite carnival decorations
When I think of Mexican decoration, I think of bold, bright, and contrasting colors. I always use red, green and white (yes, some yellow, red, pink, blue, etc.!) because these are the colors of the flag, from there I choose 3 more colors that can be repeated throughout the decoration.
- Paper pickup banners strung up from above and around the table.
- The large tissue paper is beautiful and easy to make. Children especially like to help make these.
- Sombrero is fun for decoration and photo opportunities.
- In my opinion, the pinata is a must-have for any Mexican party. Filled with candies or small toys.
- Salsa jars are perfect for holding decorations, flowers and succulents
- Candles-You can usually find cheap candles in dollar stores, and they match the decor very well.
You can find so many decorations online and on Amazon, so be sure to check it out and store it for future use. đ
Simple appetizer
French fries and salsa are a must! You can take the traditional route with red salsa or add other interesting salsa.
The dipping sauce is also a simple classic appetizer. You can also provide other simple finger food appetizers. Plan to let people eat 3-5 appetizers per person. If you have only 5-10 people, plan to provide 1-2 different appetizers. For every 5-8 people participating, add another appetizer.
