NoLo and MaKiRa now open at Dusit Thani Dubai
Sponsored: Dusit Thani Dubai unveils two exciting new concepts: NoLo, Dubai’s first alcohol-free bar, and MaKiRa, DIFC’s latest Japanese roll and bowl destination
Nolo
Located across the street from trendy 24th Street, in a small alley just off the bustling Market Square, NoLo is a fusion of flavor, humor, and dazzling all things healthy. Its name is a combination of two words. No means “no alcohol” and Lo means “low anxiety”. Additionally, the word “Lo” has a variety of interpretations, including but not limited to: self-love, faithfulness to health, low risk, and lost and found.
The ambience of NoLo is a fusion of music, dazzling cityscapes, engaging conversation and the sound of glasses clinking. As social time begins, the flow of drinks begins. NoLo offers the same experience, but with one notable difference: a 0% alcohol blend is cleverly mixed and creatively crafted in the glasses instead of alcohol.
Thanks to the warm lighting, vibrant velvet-covered seating, wrought-iron chandeliers, lintel beams and greenery, and trendy groups and date couples engaged in lively conversations, it’s easy to forget the night while sipping on artisanal concoctions.
NoLo has partnered with Lyre’s, the world’s leading independent non-alcoholic beverage brand, to showcase tantalizing alternatives to alcohol blends. This brand new bar has innovative concoctions made for the health-conscious and serious drinkers. Drinks can be paired with a variety of vegetarian and international dishes such as tandoori chicken buns, avocado and tuna nigiri, wagyu beef sliders and beef pepperoni pizza.
Must-try signature combos include Lavender Bees Knees Royale (Lyre’s London Dry, lemon juice, lavender honey and Lyre’s classico grande), Immune Highball (Lyre’s Italian Sprite, turmeric honey syrup, fresh orange juice and lemon juice), Smoked Honeycomb Old Fashion (Lyre’s classico grande) of American malt, smoked honey syrup and non-alcoholic aromatic bitters) and Spice Date Espresso Martini (Lyre’s dark cane, cold espresso and spiced date syrup).

Makira
In keeping with its pursuit of culinary excellence, Dusit Thani Dubai has added DIFC’s newest Japanese roll and bowl destination, MaKiRa, to its portfolio. MaKiRa combines the flavors and preparation methods of traditional and modern Japanese culture into an enticing dining experience.
Two popular meals in Japan, ramen and burrito, are the basis of this concept restaurant. From classic dishes to the chef’s modern sensory flavours, each meal promises to take you through a quintessential culinary experience. From the best fish to premium Wagyu beef, everything is hand-picked from the best farms. You can choose to sit at the counter and watch the chefs at work, or relax with family and friends, surrounded by ramen-inspired artwork on all sides, and order a gourmet bowl filled with alcohol-free hops.
A variety of illuminated multi-coloured Japanese umbrellas are displayed on the ceiling of the entrance hall, welcoming guests into the space, perfect for the next viral mirror. The space is a light, bright, quirky and fun environment with predominantly wooden features and Japanese contemporary design elements.
You are welcome to interact one-on-one with the chefs working behind MaKiRa’s visible and eye-catching open kitchen counter. The menu offers a variety of Japanese rolls, such as truffle wagyu with sliced wagyu beef, avocado, truffle chubby, crispy onions and yakiniku sauce, and ebi uempura Uramaki with prawns, avocado, orange, spicy chubby and teriyaki glaze.
Some hearty bowls that are highly recommended are Wagyu Reef Ramen (traditional soy sauce soup with Wagyu beef char siew), Tan Tan Ramen (cream chicken soup with spicy minced chicken and crispy garlic oil) and Tom Yum Ramen (classic winter soup rich in coconut milk) Yin Gong Soup with Shrimp and Crispy Garlic Oil).
A curated selection of nutritious salads, pokes and chirashi also caters to health-conscious palates. The new chirashi (sushi rice, salmon, tuna, octopus, hamachi, takuwan, hajikame and wasabi soy sauce) and tuna poke (quinoa, charred pineapple, edamame, snow peas and carrots with bloody mary sauce) are also a no-brainer must try.
