How to Make Fortune Cookies


Homemade fortune cookies are sure to bring good luck. They’re the perfect way to celebrate Chinese New Year or have a nice meal at an Asian dinner!

We love to end our meal with fortune cookies, it’s even more fun to have your own fresh cookies and thoughtful luck! Baked cream cheese rangoons, omelets, and chicken lettuce wraps make great appetizers.

Our family loves Asian food, but sometimes eating out isn’t always feasible, especially when you have a family of 8!

That’s why I make homemade versions of many of our favorite Asian dishes, like orange chicken, beef with broccoli, and fried rice.

This year, to celebrate Chinese New Year, we made some of our favorite homemade Chinese meals, learned about Chinese New Year, and even made our own fortune cookies!

My family agrees, it’s a fun and delicious way to enjoy Asian food at home. I recommend giving it a try – I think you’ll love it 🙂

How to Make Fortune Cookies

Prepare. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat; prepare lucky bars.

Cool and repeat. Place cookies in muffin tins and let cool and hold their shape. Repeat the process for the remaining cookies.

Tips for Shaping Fortune Cookies

Getting the perfect fortune cookie shape can seem a little tricky and may take a few tries before you get it off. But don’t let that scare you, it’s actually really easy! To help go smoothly, here are some tips to consider.

  • distribute them evenly It takes some practice, but basically when you spread the batter on the parchment, you want it to look evenly distributed and the same color.
