Christmas morning is full of activities and fun, so who wants to stay away from the magic of making breakfast? That’s why I like to make a delicious breakfast casserole the night before. The next morning, I just put it in the oven and continue to have fun.
This Christmas breakfast casserole is full of flavor, suitable for all your basic breakfast foods ;). It has salted sausage, pies and butter eggs. This is basically a meal in a pan, who doesn’t like it?
Now this does not need to be done the night before, but it does require some calming time. It is perfect for family breakfast or brunch with friends, so be sure to give it a try!
How to make
Prepare. Grease a 9Ă—13 baking pan and set aside.
Brown. In a saucepan, cook the sausages over medium heat until browned and drain.
mix. In a medium bowl, mix the salt, egg and half. Then add the sausage, croutons and cheese. Stir together until evenly coated. Pour the mixture into the baking pan.
chill. Cover with foil and cool for at least 2 hours or overnight.
bake. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cover the casserole and bake for 50-60 minutes. Reduce heat to 325°F. Open the casserole and bake for another 20-30 minutes or until the casserole is set.

Speaking of Christmas, I really like to encounter simple things. I think this Christmas breakfast casserole is very suitable for using the simple ingredients I often have on hand. However, you can easily add different ingredients to make it your own. Some ideas include:
- Add crumbled bacon on top
- Use ham instead of sausage
- Add the cut red and green bell peppers
- Broccoli florets, artichokes, fried mushrooms
- Use your favorite cheese
- Use different breads, such as bread, French bread, brioche, Texas toast

Advance + storage tips
overnight: This casserole is especially suitable for making the night before, so all you have to do on Christmas morning is to put it in the oven. Just like making French toast, you should allow enough time for the egg mixture to dip into the bread. You need at least 2 hours for the bread to soak, but it is best to stay overnight.
Some people may worry that too long a soaking time will cause the casserole to become wet. One trick is to use stale bread. To help your bread dry out faster, you can put them in the oven and bake them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.
Another baking technique is to let the casserole sit for about 30 minutes before baking. This will make the casserole bake more evenly.
Store: If you want to prepare the Christmas breakfast casserole earlier than overnight, you can cover the plate with plastic wrap and foil. Label and freeze for 1-2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before unpacking and baking.
