The prestigious Michelin Guide is finally coming to Dubai in June 2022. Get ready to discover acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurants across the city.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guides, expressed his delight at Dubai joining the Michelin Guides family. He went on to say that their team of inspectors is already on site to prepare the first restaurants, which will be announced in June 2022.

The Michelin Guide Dubai will showcase the best of Dubai’s cuisine, reflecting not only the sophistication the city is known for, but also the wide variety of cuisines that the city’s location and history has to offer.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism and Business Marketing, explained that this latest accolade for Dubai is also a recognition of its status as a global gastronomic hub, and is inspired by our visionary leadership goal of making Dubai the most popular destination in the world. Home to more than 200 nationalities, Dubai has grown from a trading port on the Arabian Gulf to one of the most diverse lifestyle destinations in the world. Thanks to this dynamism, Dubai has developed a very fascinating food culture that is influenced by global cuisine, including the emirate’s own Arabic specialties.

The selection of restaurants in Dubai will be made by the inspectors of the Michelin Guide based on its five universally applicable criteria, based on the tried and tested Michelin method applied globally. These include the quality of the ingredients, the cooking technique, the harmony of flavours, the personality of the chef in the cooking process and consistency over time and across the menu.

One Michelin star was awarded to the restaurant for “high quality cooking worth a visit”, two Michelin stars for “excellent cooking worth a detour” and three Michelin stars for “good food worth a special visit”.

In addition to the coveted star rating, the selection will also include the popular Bib Gourmand category, which is awarded to establishments that offer value-for-money three-course meals.
