What Soup Is Best For Strep Throat?

Although some soups may be beneficial for a sore throat, not all soups are created equally. Soups that are made from chicken, beef or vegetable broth may be the easiest on the throat. Tomato-based soups are acidic and may irritate your throat too much.

Whip up a bowl of creamy mashed potatoes. Potatoes have fiber and potassium. As long as your bowl of mashed potatoes aren’t piping hot (ouch!), this is an ideal meal to eat when you are stuck with strep throat.

Fluids and soft, soothing foods may help ease strep throat symptoms. Strep throat is a bacterial infection that causes a sore throat and flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills and aches.

When you have a sore throat, the last thing you probably want to think about is swallowing anything. But warm fluids like soups can be soothing and can help ease your symptoms faster. The trick is to be strategic about what you’re sipping. While some soups can help, others can hurt.
