What Is Mcdonald’S Mcplant Burger Made Of?

McPlantℱ Introducing the McPlant, a juicy burger made with a plant-based patty, co-developed with Beyond Meat. It’s sizzled on a flat iron grill, then topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo and a slice of melty American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.

The McPlant is now available nationwide in the UK and is a vegan burger made with a plant-based patty co-developed with Beyond Meat.

The McPlant burger features a plan-based patty which has been developed in collaboration with Beyond Meat alongside a pea protein-based vegan cheese that ‘tastes just like McDonald’s iconic cheese sices’. Interestingly, it also contains coconut oil and rapeseed oil to much more obscure items such as potassium chloride and emulsifier.

Also, the McPlant’s vegan patty is made using pea protein, coconut oil, modified potato starch, natural flavourings, stabiliser, anti-caking agent, water and other ingredients. The burger – which is based on the Quarter Pounder Deluxe – has been certified as vegan by the Vegetarian Society.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s told the Huffington Post: ‘In the future, McPlant could extend across a line of plant-based products including burgers, chicken-substitutes and breakfast sandwiches. And, we expect some markets will test the burger next year.

The McPlant is based on the Quarter Pounder Cheese Deluxe, although it has a meat alternative from Beyond Meat. Beyond Meat burgers are made from a pea and rice protein combined with starches. The vegan cheese is made from coconut and oils.
