Is Dutch Bros Owned By Starbucks?

Overall, Dutch Bros and Starbucks are two separate companies that target different people and sell different products. There are too many differences between the two to even say that one is ultimately better than the other. Starbucks may succeed at things that Dutch doesn’t and vice versa.

Travis Boersma co-founded Dutch Bros as a pushcart with his late brother Dane, who died of ALS in 2009. The brothers came from an Oregon dairy family. Private equity has grown the chain to 471 outlets in 11 states.

While Dutch Bros is a great place and all, Starbucks still takes the biggest piece on the table. In 2019, Starbucks had the highest share of the coffee shop market in the US, accounting for around 40% of them all. So, how did Starbucks get there?

Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) stock is up 45% since coming public in mid-September. It’s a coffee chain, the biggest threat Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) has seen in years. Dutch Bros is winning by going faster, broader, and younger. Dutch Bros outlets are mostly drive-thrus, which helped it keep growing during the pandemic, according to Placer.AI.
