Is Dr Pepper Just Coke And Root Beer?

For those of us old enough to remember the ads from years back, they made a specific statement that Dr Pepper is “not a cola, not a root beer, but a blend of deep fruit flavors.” I think their advertisement should be the definitive answer.

Dr.Pepper describes itself as a “pepper soda”. Fun facts: Dr.Pepper is owned by the Snapple group. That’s who makes it for America. The Dr.Pepper they drink in Europe is made by Coca Cola and Pepsi makes it for the Australian market.

Dr Pepper is one of the most popular soft drinks in the world. This famous drink is found all over the US, Europe, Asia, South American and Australia. Dr Pepper was first invented in 1885 and is one of the “big 3” soda brands in the US, the others being Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

It also does not contain extracts of the cola nut, which makes it not a cola. It most likely contains some of the same roots and spices as a traditional root beer, but there are fruit flavors in there as well. So it falls outside of the root beer category as well.
