- Using the Right type of pan: It’s best to use a non stick griddle or a good quality stainless steel pan.
- Grease the griddle: Spray the griddle with oil spray and Let the griddle heat up. The heat helps the pancake batter not stick.
- Timing: Flipping at the right time (which we will get to in a bit) also prevents pancakes from sticking.
- Don’t tip all the ingredients into the bowl at once.
- Don’t over mix your batter – use a whisk instead of a spoon.
- Let the batter rest before you start cooking.
- When making American pancakes, don’t forget the baking powder.
- Make sure you’re using the right pan.
- If you fry the pancakes in butter, they’re more likely to burn.
- Don’t overcook your pancakes.
Once all the bubbles have popped and there are holes in the batter, it’s time to flip. For most pancakes, this takes around 4 minutes: When you go to flip the pancake, if it lifts easily off the griddle/pan it’s ready to flip. If it sticks, cook it a bit longer.
- As the pancake cooks, you will see bubbles start to form in the batter:
