Very few people follow a raw diet 100 percent of the time. Eating 75 to 80 percent of your foods raw qualifies you as a raw foodist. This allows for occasional meals out or the periodic treat of a cooked food, such as peanut butter.
Since peanut butter supplies high-quality, nutrient-dense calories, 200 calories of peanut butter will have a stronger positive health impact than 200 calories of an ultra-processed “diet” food. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can eat all the peanut butter you want.
Pure peanut butter contains only 20% carbs, making it suitable for a low carb diet. It also causes a very low rise in blood sugar, making it a good option for people with type 2 diabetes ( 7 ).
